Our Story
The idea for a tiny door trail was sparked in my imagination years ago with the convergence of all things I find interesting… unsolved mysteries, clever puzzles, historic places, outdoor adventures, and tiny things! I envisioned these miniature doors placed around town, reflecting their location in some way, and in essence creating a tiny version of Ostrander for people to discover. The idea lingered for years, pushed aside by everyday responsibilities and never quite becoming a priority.
Then the pandemic happened. With more time at home, I began revisiting old crafting projects that had long been left “for later,” and it dawned on me that the time for the tiny door idea had finally come.
So work began on the first tiny door, and on June 8, 2021, that door quietly appeared on a mailbox post. Following soon after came four other doors scattered around Ostrander. With the creation of a map and flyer, the Tiny Door Trail was officially born.
The community soon joined in by requesting a tiny resident at their location, or putting up one of their own. The tiny real estate market has been booming ever since, and today, Ostrander is home to more than 40 tiny doors.
